Picasso Museum: [C. Montcada 15-23, 93 319 63 10] You can’t come to Barcelona and not go to the Picasso museum. Not only are the painting and work of Picasso on show here but the building is pretty cool as well. Situated in the Gothic area it’s a combination of five medieval palaces linked together to make a museum. There’s also a great open-air terrace café restaurant the bookshop. Enough said. [Open: Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10h to 20 and Sundays from 10h to 15h]
Fundació Miró: [Parc de Montjuďc, 934 439 470] A gift from the artist Joan Miró to his native city. This is one of Barcelona's most exciting showcases of contemporary art. Designed by Josep Lluís Sert the building is a mixture of white and space. [Tues.-Wed. and Fri.-Sat. 10-7, Thurs. 10-9:30, Sun. 10-2:30]
MAM - Museum of Modern Art: [Parc Ciutadella, 93 319 57 28] The Museum of Modern art of Barcelona is located in the Ciudadella park. A huge collection Catalan art from the mid 19th century to early 20th century. [Opening times are Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00am to 7:00pm.Sundays & holidays from 10:00am to 2:30pm]
Gaudí Casa-Museu: [La Rambla and the Raval, 93 219 3811 ] Something out of Alice-in-Wonderland, Gaudí lived in this pink house from 1906 to 1926. Exhibits include furniture, decorations, drawings, and portraits design by the eccentric genius. [Opening times are May -September daily 10-8; October - February daily 10-6; March - April daily 10-7]
Catalan National Art Museum: [Palau Nacional. Parc de Montjuďc, 93 622 0360] Located in a magnificent palace overlooking the fountains of Montjuic. Catalan works of Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance arts from 11th to 18th century. [Opening times are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday: 10am - 7pm; Thursday: 10am - 9pm; Sunday & holidays:10am - 2:30pm]
